Eastern Michigan University students Darius Simpson and Scout Bostley perform their poem “Lost Voices”, speaking for each other to attempt to explain a little bit about privilege.

“But to tell me you know my pain is to stab yourself in the leg because you saw me get shot. We have two different wounds, and looking at yours does nothing to heal mine.”

The duo perform incredibly, sharing their experiences as both a white woman, and as a black man, making a point that rather than attempt to speak for marginalised groups whilst standing in a privileged position, we should listen to what they have to say themselves, otherwise everybody will be left without a voice.
